Have you looked at your website on a mobile browser? Does the website render properly? Is it easily viewable on today’s mobile devices? Today, all to often websites are not targeting the mobile market, therefore you could be loosing customers.
The mobile market is growing rapidly. Last year over 175 million smartphones sold, that is 175 million new users visiting your website on a mobile device. If your website is not mobile friendly that could be a potential loss of business.
The number of mobile devices that are internet capable has grown over the past year. Today nearly all phones have some type of internet capabilities, ranging from basic browsing to more complex desktop like browsers.
Industries that can really benefit from a mobile based website are the hospitality industry; mainly restaurants and hotels. Many people are on the go and finding a place eat while out is always on their mind. Device targeted applications like Yelp for the iPhone allow users to easily find places to eat, but when the user wants to view the location’s menu it can be difficult with the website does not target a mobile device and render an alternative website.
At Technability we currently have several client projects that are all based on mobile web features. Ranging from iPhone applications to mobile based websites utilizing HTML5. Its the future, and it is quickly becoming an important market for any client to capture.
